Get people talking about what you’re doing

Raising awareness of your organisation and its activities, products or services is usually a top priority, but the resources for a full marketing campaign are often not available. Achieving coverage in the media outlets seen by your audiences brings your organisation and its news to their attention with far greater immediacy and authority than advertising, and at a fraction of the price.

From researching and writing newsworthy press releases to distribution and liaison with carefully targeted journalists, my end-to-end service means your audiences hear the news you want them to. Their awareness of your organisation and what it can offer them are raised, and you begin to develop relationships with the opinion-makers in your field.

Services include:

  • identifying newsworthy activities and translating them into accessible and appealing press releases
  • anticipating and responding to media interest to maximise positive coverage in target media
  • building effective relationships with regional, national and specialist journalists
  • monitoring and evaluating coverage achieved
  • promoting the value of media relations within your organisation, and advising and coaching staff on dealing with the media

My media relations experience includes two and a half years in the press office at The University of Manchester, where I communicated key messages to identified audiences via a succession of high-profile news stories. I was also responsible for the Centre for New Writing's media relations and events publicity during its first two years, and Made Up North Productions' media campaign for the premiere of its first feature film.
